The scheme was launched by Voluntary Action North Somerset with support from North Somerset Council earlier this year.

The community lottery gives players the chance to win a top cash prize while also helping raise money for local good causes.

VANS is still seeking more charities, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations and other good causes across North Somerset to register.

Groups who set up their own page within the lottery scheme will receive 50p in every pound spent by players, compared with just 28p in the pound in the National Lottery.

A further 10p in every pound then goes into a general good causes fund, with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.

The first weekly draw started in June with a jackpot of £25,000 for a matching sequence of six numbers. Other prizes of £2,000, £250 and £25 will also be given out.
