Health Walks – North Somerset

Walking tags

The Health Walks scheme welcomes over 300 regular walkers a week in and around North Somerset. We have Health Walks in Cheddar and Churchill; Clevedon, Long Ashton, Nailsea, Portishead, Weston-super-Mare, Winscombe, Worle and Yatton.

Our walks are led by volunteers who welcome you to join their groups. They have all attended Health Walk Leader training to ensure a safe and enjoyable walk for all. If you’re interested in volunteering at your local Health Walk, visit the Walk Leader Training page to find out more.

Please note, the Worle Health Walk is currently on pause until new volunteer walk leaders can be found. Visit the Walk Leader Training page link above if you’re interested in helping out!

If you are new or returning to exercise, Health Walks North Somerset offer the opportunity to improve fitness at a pace that suits you with the majority of groups providing a number of walks so that all abilities are supported.

We also know that Health Walks are really important for social engagement as well as the physical benefits exercise brings.

When you arrive at a health walk for the first time you will be asked to complete a walker sign up form.

The leader will tell you about the route at the start; we try to avoid steep hills, stiles, many steps or very muddy/slippery surfaces. However, be prepared for the odd hill and stile, grass, uneven surfaces or puddles after rain.

Please wear sensible shoes, preferably walking shoes or trainers, especially during the autumn and winter months.

Please note only registered assistance dogs are permitted on the health walks in North Somerset.
