Why did you choose this area of focus for your staff?
Because our office team spend the majority of our day sat in one position at our desks.
How would you describe your intervention?
A 15 minute burst of exercise in the office environment to improve our musculoskeletal health and mental health.
How did you involve your staff in the intervention?
Engaging every member of our team in completing the exercises to their ability. Feedback forms were provided to team members, this ensured we had opinions on the exercises.
How engaged were senior leaders in the intervention?
The idea was presented to our senior management team who were very positive and helpful in ensuring that the exercises are carried out regularly. Managers of each team are extremely encouraging of our wellbeing lead who runs the weekly sessions.
How did you promote and raise awareness of this intervention to staff?
We emailed both out office and community team members the exercises and encouraged them via our company newsletters, social media platforms, email and communication apps.
What has been the impact of this intervention for staff?
The mood of our team members is elevated, it has worked as a positive team building exercise. Musculoskeletal health and mental health has improved as muscles are engaged and the endorphins ensure we feel invigorated.
How do you plan to continue with this intervention in the future?
This routine is imbedded into our office workers routine, we also plan to continue to engage our community team with completing exercises. We change the exercise programme regularly and ensure that we gain feedback from team members.
What have you learned from developing this intervention?
That consistent, short bursts of exercise are extremely powerful to both the body and mind of our team members.
Can you offer any advice to other organisations thinking about developing this kind of intervention?
Ensure that you are consistent!
